Matilda

Watercolours and coloured pencils on watercolour paper
It has been over a year since I last posted something on this blog. This is partly because I do not have the time to draw as much as before, and partly because I am mainly using my Instagram (annaskoura) for quick photos of sketches.

I managed to finish this one today though, so here it is!

Ormeau road Gate Lodge

And yes! The jury is out and I won 1st Place! Very proud!

This is my submission for the European Heritage Open Days sketch competition for Northern Ireland. It is the Gate Lodge in Ormeau road in Belfast, a property restored by Hearth that hosts the headquarters of the Building Preservation Trust. Wish me luck!

Just so stories illustration 2

A long long time ago, I did post a couple of sketches from my last year's illustration class. The task was to produce  a three-piece illustration for one of the stories of Rudyard Kipling's "Just so stories". I realised a couple of days ago that I never actually uploaded the three-piece illustration, so here goes:

done in CS6 with a Wacom tablet.

Standing nude in watercolour

In one of the life drawing classes in the Crescent Arts Centre (a couple of months ago) I decided to try quick water-colored sketches. I never feel very comfortable when drawing with brushes but I guess it takes some practice. It was fun doing this series of sketches and now that I found them hidden in a dossier I decided to post them here. They are 4 in total.

Pencils and watercolor on colored paper, about 10mins

Lady Wolf

One of the most enjoyable things we have ever done in the drawing class, were a set of 5-10min poses full of energy and emotion. This is one of them.

Colored pencils on grey card. The model is Clare.

A curled reclining nude with our fabulous model Clare, from my life drawing class at the Crescent Arts centre. You can check out her website with drawings from different artists.

Reclining Nude - side view

I really liked the way this drawing turned out, although I was doubtful in the beginning. This was Lorraine, some weeks ago in the life drawing class of the Crescent Arts Centre.

Happy Birthday!

A couple of days late, but I finally had time to finish this: a little happy birthday drawing for my little sister. I wish her all the best!

The Kindle cover arrived!

Finally the Kindle cover I ordered through Gelaskins arrived! It is printed on matte material rather than a glossy one, which makes it even nicer to touch. It was a gift for my boyfriend and his kindle, and I think he was happy with the result too.

Kindle skin illustration

This digital illustration is a gift drawn to be printed as a Kindle skin via gelaskins.com. I still have not seen the printed result but I really liked their products and hope to make some more skin-illustrations soon.
This is also my latest deviantart submission.

Drawn in CS6 with a Wacom Bamboo tablet.
